Statoil has chartered the semi-submersible West Aquarius to drill two probes near its promising Bay du Nord oil discovery.
Upstream understands that over the past few months there has been an ongoing debate among the partners in Bay du Nord and nearby exploration licences about either pushing ahead with developing the oil discovery or drilling nearby prospects which, in the success case, would boost project economics.
