All licences for wells, facilities and pipelines were suspended by the provincial regulator on 15 February, forcing the company to cease all production and close the doors on its Mazeppa sour gas plant in Southern Alberta.

According to the AER, Lexin failed to comply with multiple orders, lacks the sufficient staff to manage its more than 1600 sites, owes more than C$1 million (US$766,859) in orphan well fund levies and administrative fees, and owes more than C$70 million in security for its end-of-life obligations.
