British Columbia’s carbon tax is not as “revenue neutral” as it claims, and will end up costing the Western Canadian province nearly C$900 million (US$690 million) in higher taxes if it does not change the system, according to a report.

The latest study by Canadian public policy think-tank, Fraser Institute, has determined the province’s attempts at revenue neutrality are no longer viable because the offsetting tax measures it used when the C$30 per tonne carbon tax was introduced have changed.
