China’s top shale gas producer Sinopec has discovered significant new volumes of shale gas in Chongqing in the Sichuan basin in the south-west of the country, further boosting the hydrocarbon potential at the company’s flagship Fuling shale gas play.
A statement by the Chongqing Development & Reform Committee last week said that four wells drilled by Sinopec Huadong Oil & Gas have each flowed more than 200,000 cubic metres of gas per day.
