At least five leading international contractors are pursuing a key engineering, procurement and construction management contract from Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell for work at its giant Majnoon onshore oilfield in Iraq.

The contract is expected to cover existing facilities and those required by Shell to support an expansion project to significantly boost production capacity.

Those understood to have submitted bids include UK-listed Petrofac and Wood Group, US giant KBR, India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and a grouping of UK’s Amec Foster Wheeler with Canada’s SNC Lavalin.
