The North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) has received approval from Kazakhstan’s government to start early engineering and design work on a project to increase production from the giant Kashagan oilfield to 450,000 barrels per day from the initial phase target of 370,000 bpd.

After years of delay and cost overruns, the $50 billion phase one restarted commercial production in November.
