North Dakota oil and gas production from the Bakken tight oil play posted its largest declines in history in December after severe cold weather interrupted operations, writes Noah Brenner.

The state pumped about 942,000 barrels per day in December compared with 1.03 million bpd in November, according to preliminary figures from the North Dakota Industrial Commission (NDIC).

Natural gas output also fell in December, the NDIC said.
