Operators added 13 land rigs in the week ending 17 February, bringing the onshore rig count to 730 units. At the same time, operators working offshore dropped three rigs for an offshore total of 18, according to the latest figures from services giant Baker Hughes.
Texas saw the biggest gains, adding 16 rigs.
The gains were seen in the Barnett and the Eagle Ford shale plays, which added two rigs each.
