Shell has narrowed the field to about half a dozen contenders for an engineering, procurement and construction contract for a semi-submersible production facility destined for the Vito field in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Anglo-Dutch supermajor initially had cast a wide net of over 10 contractors in South Korea, China, Singapore and Malaysia, as well as the US, as it sought pre-qualification information to revive the long-delayed project for the US Gulf to work at a lower oil price.
