A consortium of Netherlands-based SBM Offshore and Japan’s JGC is in pole position to land a groundbreaking contract to provide a newbuild floating liquefied natural gas vessel to be deployed off Congo-Brazzaville for privately-owned independent NewAge.

Market sources said the SBM-JGC team has beaten competition from three other groups and has entered talks with NewAge to finalise the terms of a contract that is due for award this quarter.
