A judge, who was considering whether to lift an injunction, decided to refer the case for consultation with Brazil’s federal board of attorneys (MPF).

Brazilian shipbuilding association Sinaval obtained the injunction in January after claiming that state-controlled Petrobras had not genuinely consulted local suppliers before seeking a waiver of contractually-enshrined local content requirements.

Sinaval alleges that the main evidence to support claims that local content requirements would push prices 40% higher was a bidding process that was tainted by its own non-compliance.
