Shell Russia president Olivier Lazar said that Gazprom and the Anglo-Dutch supermajor are planning to discuss possible tax concessions for the project with the Russian government at a later stage.

Gazprom, which resurrected the Baltic LNG project over two years ago, has been seeking a firmer commitment from Shell, rather than memos of understanding, to participate in the scheme.

According to Lazare, Baltic LNG will need tax concessions to be able to compete with the growing availability of US-produced LNG on the world energy market.
