Russia’s Gazprom has pledged to the European Commission that it will overhaul its trading practices in central and eastern Europe for an initial eight-year period in exchange for the commission closing its long-lasting antitrust case against the gas monopoly.
The European Union commissioner in charge of competition policy, Margrethe Vestager, welcomed the proposals from Gazprom, saying that its commitments will “enable the free flow of gas in Central and Eastern Europe at competitive prices”.
