OSX buys tankers for FPSO conversion

OSX, the shipyard and offshore services arm of Brazil's EBX group, has completed its deal to buy two VLCC tankers for conversion into the company's third and fourth floating production, storage and offloading vessels for use off Brazil.



The two tankers were snapped up from Saudia Aramco subsidiary Vela International Marine Limited for a total $54 million, and are due for delivery in February and March, OSX said in a statement.

The vessels will be renamed OSX-3 and OSX-4 when they begin their new life as offshore production platforms.

The leasing arm of OSX will charter and operate the two units, with EBX group stablemate OGX positioned as the likely customer.
