Total closes in on extra Ichthys slice

Close to a deal: Total president of exploration and production, Yves-Louis Darricarrere

The head of exploration and production at French supermajor Total said the company was closing in on an agreement to increase its stake in the Ichthys liquefied natural gas project in northern Australia.

Speaking at a private media luncheon in Perth, Western Australia, this week Total’s president of exploration and production, Yves-Louis Darricarrere said the company planned to increase its share in the US$34 billion project by 6%.

“It’s only an issue now of finalising the amendments, but we are in agreement, basically, with Inpex to increase our share from 24% to 30%,” Darricarrere said.
