Firm focus on Falklands

AIM-listed minnow Borders&Southern (B&S) has kicked off a 3D shoot over its Falkland Islands acreage.

PGS' Ocean Explorer vessel will shoot about 1500 square kilometres of data over about four months on the acreage.

The Falkland Islands government has granted a two-year extension to B&S' PL 018, 019, 020, 027 and 022 licences, providing more than 750 square kilometres of 3D data is gathered. The first exploration period will now end on 1 November 2009.

Another Falkland-focused minnow, Rockhopper Explor-ation, has completed initial interpretation of 3D seismic over its PL 032 and PL 033 licences which“has revealed large fans and structural closures which could form targets for the next round of drilling”.
