Peru output creeping up

PERU produced an average of 123,700 barrels per day of crude oil in March, up 4.1% from the same month last year. Output in the first three months of this year rose 2.7% to 120,600 bpd compared with the same period in 1996, said the Energy and Mines Ministry in its monthly report.
Total oil production in Peru dropped 2.9% in 1996 to an average of 118,300 bpd. US companies Occidental Petroleum and Petro-Tech, Argentina's Pluspetrol and state oil company Petroperu account for more than 90% of total national oil output.
