Oil tycoon’s Oscar night to remember

Hollywood A-listers were again on view at last Sunday’s Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles – but the event was also a massive success for a lesser known oil tycoon.

Dallas-based billionaire Tim Headington (far right) was involved with two films – Hugo and Rango – that carried off six Academy Awards between them.

Headington co-owns production company with UK film producer Graham King, pictured with Headington, the company behind the two films.

As head of Headington Oil, Headington made his fortune when he sold assets North Dakota’s Bakken shale oil play to XTO Energy in 2008, now part of now part of ExxonMobil, for $1.85 billion.
