Rokke’s money talks for Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was used to finding the net in his heyday as a Manchester United striker but has felt the painful boot of big business from boss Kjell Inge Rokke as he pursues higher goals in his new managerial career.

The baby-faced former Red Devil, hailed as a saint in Molde after leading the Norwegian club to its first-ever league title last season, made the oil industry magnate see red after flirting with Aston Villa for the coveted manager’s post at the English Premier League side.

Oil industry investor Rokke, a major fan and benefactor of Molde over the past 20 years, then decided in a fit of pique to pull his annual sponsorship for the club of around Nkr20 million ($3.3 million) by selling off holding company Aker ASA’s ownership stake…
