DANA BACKS PARALYMPIC DARKE HORSE

Dana Petroleum is throwing its support behind an industry geologist who is competing for Great Britain in this summer’s Paralympic Games in London.

Adventurer and former World Championships bronze medalist Karen Darke will be going for gold in two hand-cycling events this September, and the KNOC subsidiary is weighing in with some cash.

Halifax-born Darke was partially paralysed at the age of 21 after a 10-metre fall while rock climbing. However, this has not stopped her pushing the boundaries since, even completing the London marathon the following year.

The 2009 World Para-Triathlon champion has even hand-biked across the Himalayas and the length of Japan while sit-skiing across Greenland and kayaking Alaska’s Inside Passage.
