Greater Plutonio was BP's first project as operator in Angola, and the company has put considerable emphasis on domestic content and training of local people.

The Angolan-built riser towers and manifolds included support structures, tees, flowline termination assemblies, installation and mooring piles and a CALM offloading buoy, integrally manufactured at the Sonamet yard in Lobito.

FMC Technologies was particularly active, building a new pipeshop at Lobito, assembling 25 subsea trees at Sonils and manufacturing 45 permanent guide bases through its Algoa unit.
