Private equity giant eyes expansion plan

A new Brazilian private equity giant is appearing on the horizon in the shape of Mare Investimentos.

The company is founded by partner-director Rodolfo Landim, a former Petrobras executive who was lured from the oil company by mining magnate Eike Batista.

Landim masterminded the EBX group’s expansion into oil and gas, and OGX demonstrated the potential for a fast track route from start-up to money-spinning stock market listing in Brazil.

Landim is a man with a point to prove after an acrimonious split with Batista, and he will head a new fund targeting companies in the supply, services, infrastructure and logistics sectors.
