CGGVeritas faith paying off as it builds offshore

IMAGING below the salt was one of the primary challenges when Petrobras and its partners began to contemplate drilling beneath the 2000-metre thick canopy in the Santos basin.

Much of the 3D seismic that unlocked the Santos basin pre-salt was shot by French geophysical specialist CGG in the 2002-2003 period. Tupi, Iara and Carioca were among the discoveries that were targeted through this data.

It speaks volumes about the progress made since then that CGGVeritas has seen fit to revisit a swathe of that original area of interest, bringing its updated toolkit into play.
