Seven Borealis the pride of the fleet for Subsea 7

State of the art: Subsea 7’s multi-faceted pipelay and heavy-lift construction vessel Seven Borealis is set to work for Total in Angola Block 17 later this year

Later this year Subsea 7’s massive new $500 million flagship Seven Borealis will set sail to West Africa to begin work on Total’s Clov project in Block 17 off Angola.

The subsea, umbilical, riser flowline specialist is displaying a great deal of corporate pride in its new vessel, now the largest in its 44-strong fleet.

Borealis is undergoing final outfitting at the Schiedam production facility of specialised pipelay and heavy-lift supplier Huisman, close to Rotterdam, with its 85-metre tall mast crane visible for kilometres around.

The contractor argues that the heavy-lift and pipelay combination of Borealis’ giant 5000-tonne crane, 600-tonne tension S-Lay system and 1000-tonne top tension J-Lay tower is unrivalled.
