Veterans have a lotto offer

As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan wind down, an army of military veterans is swelling the ranks of the US workforce and providing new sources of highly-trained talent for oil and gas companies, writes Luke Johnson .

Military veterans offer skills and experience that can prove useful to companies in many sectors of the oil and gas industry. Veterans are often trained to handle sophisticated communications and electronics systems, and to perform vehicle maintenance, and many are masters of leadership and planning.

However, beyond these traditional military skills, modern-day veterans can also bring with them an ability to adapt to unpredictable situations and to mitigate risk in high-stress environments.
