Europe is reaching for higher salaries

EXPANSION in oil and gas activity in Europe is creating a demand for skilled professionals and this, when coupled with a shortage of supply, has led to increasing salaries in the sector.

Underpinned by confidence in the long-term outlook for world energy demand, oil and gas pay rose by an average of 6.1% last year, and this looks set to continue rising.

Recruitment has for the large part remained positive in Europe, despite worries about the continent’s sovereign debt crisis. According to the latest salary guide by recruitment specialist Hays Oil & Gas, Norwegian oil and gas workers are the world leaders when it comes to earning power.
