West Africa set for change

West Africa must feel as though the global gas business has given it the cold shoulder as a key liquefied natural gas export zone, as it sees East Africa soaking up the attention.

Nevertheless, that will change as and when the Nigerian government finally gets vital gas-related legislation and fiscal pacts in place that will help LNG proponents proceed with long-stalled export plants — Brass LNG, Nigeria LNG SevenPlus and OKLNG.

Also, Equatorial Guinea is eyeing a second train at Bioko Island, Cameroon is working on its first train, industry continues to wait for the first LNG cargos from Angola LNG and Ghana considers plans to exploit its recent spate of gas finds.
