As befits a Neapolitan, the urbane 62-year-old Ugo Salerno, chairman and chief executive of Italy’s Rina Group, is very much at home on the waves.

He is passionate about sailing in the Mediterranean and last summer moored his boat at an idyllic spot in a bay off the Greek island of Paxos, only going to shore for provisions.
