Born
on
the
eastern
side
of
Trinidad,
far
from
the
downstream
industrial
complexes
that
line
its
western
shores,
Ramnarine
thought
he
might
become
a
doctor
or
a
lawyer.
But,
as
a
Trinidad
native,
energy
was
already
in
his
blood.
Oil
production
began
in
1908
and
has
since
seen
a
parade
of
international
players
come
in,
drill
wells,
leave
and
return.
Ramnarine
counts
himself
as
a
student
of
both
domestic
and
international
energy
history.
“That
history
is
part
of
the
culture
of
the
country,”
