Li’s commitment in writing

The first thing Li Yong did two years ago when promoted to chief executive of China’s top offshore service provider China Oilfield Service Ltd (COSL) was to revamp his company’s mission slogan.

“We must do better” was transformed into “We always do better” to best reflect Li’s strategy to make COSL more committed.

Li’s management has reviewed the business development of all service sectors and re-orientated them. For the drilling aspect, focus is now on sharpening its international competiveness, as Li sees the potential for international expansion, based on the fleet COSL owns and operates.

However, not all sectors COSL aims to expand in are intended for international competition. On the contrary, Li says COSL deploys all its marine services and fleet, including offshore supply…
