Two of Petrobras’ international subsidiaries have issued Vantage Drilling with a notice to terminate the contract for the drillship Titanium Explorer, which was originally signed in February 2009.
The notice alleged that Vantage has breached its obligations under the drilling contract, without stating specific grounds.
Upstream understands that the alleged grounds relate to statements made to federal investigators in Brazil’s “Car Wash” corruption probe suggesting that the original contract had prices tainted by unlawful bribes.
