US-based GE Oil & Gas has emerged as the frontrunner to provide a subsea production system for Eni’s Coral South floating liquefied natural gas project off Mozambique.

However, the development’s progress towards a final investment decision by June is facing the prospect of delay.

Project watchers said Eni has recommended GE for the supply of the six-well subsea system in a contract valued at more than $150 million.
