LONDON-listed Chariot Oil & Gas lured Eni as a partner on its deep-water Moroccan acreage last week, helped by geology similar to that of the Italian major’s Zohr discovery off Egypt and attractive terms for any commercial discovery.
Chariot chief executive Larry Bottomley suggested to Upstream that the Rabat Deep licence is of particular interest to Eni because its largest prospect, JP-1, is similar to the 30 trillion cubic feet Zohr find.
