TENSIONS in Nigeria escalated this past week with several new attacks on oil and gas installations and pipeline infrastructure.

The attacks occured during attempts by the federal government to co-opt ex-militants into a campaign to quash the new insurgency by improving their own amnesty conditions.

In the latest incident, gunmen from the militant group called Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) again attacked Chevron installations in Delta State’s Egbema swamps, located in Warri North, this time reportedly destroying two producing oil wells, RMP-23 and 24, and causing massive spillage.
