“We need to reduce our cost base, improve production efficiency and have an organisation that best fits our combined portfolio and business plans,” Shell’s vice president for UK & Ireland, Paul Goodfellow, said in announcing the latest local cutbacks to staff in Aberdeen.
As a result, the company’s workforce in north-east Scotland will be reduced to 1700 employees.
He said the company is carrying out the measures to ensure it remains competitive following completion of its $52 billion merger with BG in February .
