Oklahoma-based WPX said that it will add two additional rigs to the Delaware basin this year, and another to the Bakken play next month.
The company had already announced plans to add its third rig, in October, to the Delaware basin, where it is targeting various horizons of the Wolfcamp shale.
It now plans to add a fourth rig to the play in November and a fifth in December following “strong initial results from Wolfcamp D wells”.
