A SMALL group of landowners in Papua New Guinea have protested against the PNG government’s distribution of production royalties in areas affected by the ExxonMobil-led PNG liquefied natural gas project.
The protest took place at the Hides gas field in the Highlands region, but was a peaceful event that did not affect gas field or LNG operations.
Sources said the protesting group came from areas near the Angore and Juha fields that had not yet been identified by the government as qualified landowners to receive benefits.
