Maersk has awarded the construction job to Keppel Fels in Singapore at a total project cost of $650 million.
The four-year contract with Statoil is worth $620 million, or about $424,000 per day. The deal also includes two one-year options.
The jack-up rig is identical to two other high-specification jack-ups under construction at Keppel for Maersk, both destined for the Norwegian market and based on the Gusto MSC CJ-70 design.
