Salym Petroleum is a joint venture between Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell and Russia's Evikhon, which in turn is controlled by UK-listed Sibir Energy.

Salym Petroleum has been developing the West Salym, Upper Salym and Vadelyp fields in the Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous region of west Siberia in Russia since 2004, with strong technical and management support and supervision from Shell.
