"We've asked Eni to prepare a master development plan by March or April 2008 for a possible third phase development," acting Oil Minister Gholamhossain Nozari told Upstream.
He added that Eni said the field is capable of even higher production, but the National Iranian OilCompany (NIOC) will only consider further expansion once the third phase is under way.
A possible fourth phase would increase overall output to 400,000 bpd, sources told Upstream, making Darkhovin one of Iran's biggest oilfields.
