Gulf coast facilities that will be evaluated include Gulf Island Fabrication in Houma, Louisiana and its Aransas Pass, Texas-based subsidiary Gulf Marine Fabricators. GMF's neighbour Kiewit Offshore Services will also likely be considered.
Even J Ray's newest fabrication yard in Altamira, Mexico will be visited by the BP team. The yard is still under development but it is expected to be able to deliver large topsides and spar hulls, as well as conventional jackets.
