PDVSA is lined up to get access to the sixth generation ­ultra-deepwater rig after Petronas of Malaysia finishes drilling its current well.

PDVSA president and Venezuelan Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez recently confirmed to Upstream that the state-owned oil company will drill.

PDVSA has indicated several times over the past couple of years that it will drill off Cuba.
