The project is set to become Norway’s second oil development in the Barents Sea and the country’s northernmost field.

The Eni-operated Goliat field is due on stream in 2013 using the characteristic cylindrical Sevan floating production, storage and offloading unit design.

Sevan will carry out the study over the next 12 months. Operator Statoil and partners Petoro and Eni aim to choose a development concept in the middle of 2013, with production start-up targeted for 2018.
