The work comes just as chief executive Antonio Brufau visited the Caribbean nation.
Repsol did not confirm details on the executive’s agenda, but industry sources said Brufau was in Cuba on a courtesy visit, where he met with economy and energy officials.
The well may investigate the North Cuban basin’s carbonate complex and possible objectives deeper down. Norway’s Statoil and India’s Oil & Natural Gas Corporation are partners.
