Namibia’s Ministry of Mines & Energy said Serica has secured an 85% interest in a petroleum agreement covering four blocks and part-blocks in the prospective Luderitz basin.

Serica is partnered by state-owned Namcor and local company Indigenous Energy.

The agreement covers blocks 2512A, 2513A, 2513B and part of 2612A in the centre of Luderitz basin. “Existing seismic data demonstrates the existence of large four-way dip closed structures lying wholly in the deep water parts of the acreage”, said Serica, “together with the potential for sizable trapping mechanisms in stratigraphic pinch outs towards the shelf margin”.
