Shtokman delay is confirmed

Russia’s state controlled gas monopoly Gazprom has confirmed a delay in taking a final investment decision on the Shtokman gas development project in the Barents Sea, writes Vladimir Afanasiev.

Following earlier comments by the project’s minority partner, Total of France, a Gazprom spokesman said more time 
was needed to study proposals from potential contractors which were pre-qualified this year.

Major western contractors and service companies have submitted their bids to Shtokman first phase operator Shtokman Development to build a floating production 
vessel, subsea production infrastructure, subsea gas and gas condensate pipelines and onshore support infrastructure on the Barents coast.
