MonArb fields up for redevelopment

Calgary-based Talisman Energy is eyeing a major redevelopment of its Montrose and Arbroath 
(MonArb) fields in the UK North Sea, a project that could involve installation of a new platform.

A spokesman for the operator confirmed that a bridge-linked platform is a possible development solution but stressed that “it is one of a number of options 
being considered”.

However, Nick Walker, Talisman’s executive vice president for international operations west, told investors last month that the “most likely development concept is a new bridge-linked platform close to Montrose, with the necessary processing and compression facilities”.

He said development screening studies are ongoing with Talisman expecting to sanction the project in 2012.
