Open for bids: Chevron has kicked off its Mafumeira Sul project off Angola

Chevron has kicked off its multi-platform Mafumeira Sul project in Angola’s shallow waters with up to four players in the hunt to build a 28,000-tonne deck plus smaller structures.

Sources said the 120,000 ­barrels per day project in Block 0 off Cabinda comprises a large production and processing ­platform, a quarters/utility ­platform and a flare tower — all bridge-linked — plus the ­Mafumeira Centro and Mafumeria Sul ­ ­wellhead structures.

Market sources said tender documents are already out, with bids due in May.

The four contenders are understood to be Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Heavy Industries and Saipem.
