CNOOC kicks off race for Panyu

Ready to roll: CNOOC is inviting bids for EPC work for the development of its Panyu gas complex in the South China Sea

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has opened bids for providing subsea engineering, procurement and construction for developing its Panyu gas complex in the South China Sea, in line with its development of its giant Liwan gas field in the same sea area.

The company has shortlisted four subsea contractors to join the race following a recent pre-qualification exercise. The participating companies are Italy’s Saipem, Subsea 7 of the UK, Technip of France and Singapore-listed Emas AMC.

The workscope involves laying subsea pipelines totalling 47 kilometres to link Panyu 34-1, Panyu 35-2 and Panyu 35-1 gas fields, with three lines being 6 inches in diameter and two being 10 inches in diameter.

Other subsea facilities include Christmas trees, 47-kilometre umbilicals, two plems, two in-line manifolds, one central manifold and five umbilical termination units.
