Netanyahu wants closer ties to Cyprus

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, visited Cyprus last week in a move to forge closer energy ties between the two countries.

The visit to Cyprus was the first ever by an Israeli leader, and is part of Tel Aviv’s strategy to establish a better relationship with Nicosia — which has long supported the formation of a Palestinian state — after the discovery of prolific gas resources in each country’s waters.
